The Foundation of the Knights of Rondmons
…in brief

  • “The Testament of the Knight of Rondmons” was the first stone and gave birth to the Foundation of the same name.

  • It, therefore, bears witness to the spirit of chivalry and nobility, which are the cornerstones of this Foundation, as well as an indication of a firm and modern desire to act, by means of local cultural and charitable works and by preserving shared historical heritage.

  • The Foundation is open to all, men and women. It provides its Knights with an opportunity to bear witness to this spirit by acquiring an individual title. It also allows its members to leave their mark on History.

  • Controlled by the State, the Foundation coats-of-arms and titles of knighthood and is officially recognised, with a legitimacy based on an order of sovereign and democratic knighthood. The Foundation keeps a notarised register of approved titles and coats-of-arms that ensures their continuity, uniqueness and universal protection. The titles can be legally used worldwide.

  • Its issues the Knight with his title, as soon as he has paid his Seal Duty (the title’s value). The Knight or Dame then receives their title and coat-of-arms in the form of a Deed of Knighthood as well as all the official documents. It is this Protocol with regard to the Foundation’s titles that governs the way the Knights conduct themselves.

  • Everyone if free to take part in the Foundation’s activities or not, and their title confers on them a right of usufruct of the Foundation’s assets and castles.

  • The Seal Duty helps to renovate them and to carry out altruistic or cultural projects.

  • Each Knight is free of any commitment. There are no restrictions, no annual contribution and no mysteries at the heart of the Foundation.

  • If the Foundation is dissolved, its assets will revert to the International Committee of the Order of Malta (CIOMAL).

  • The Foundation is administered by its administrative steering body, which is called the “Présidial” and which comprises two levels – the steering committee, made up of the Members of the Foundation Council, which manages, organises and is responsible for the structure, and the Committee of Councillors, whose skills and/or responsibilities are vital to the running of the Foundation.

  • The depository of the Foundation’s Register of Titles and Coats-of-Arms is Maitre Nicolas Grand, Advocate and Notary, Rue de l’Eglise 75, CH-1680 Romont.
